Flores Travel Tips

  • Phase yourself. Remember that the roads in Flores are not as smooth as they might be back home and schedules can get backtracked…a lot. Plan enough time to travel comfortably, especially if you’re traveling by car.
  • Do enough research. Find yourself a good and trustable tour operator that understands your needs OR do as much research as possible if you’re going to organize your trip on your own. If you show up in Flores without knowing a few things or two beforehand, chances are your trip is not going to be very pleasant!
  • Learn basic Indonesian greetings. Like anywhere else in the world, chances are the locals will be even nicer to you than they already are!
  • Know what you want. While Flores is becoming more popular, these areas are still not as developed as more famous tourist attractions like Bali or the Gilis. Do some research and make your own list of things to do in Flores to set reasonable expectations. Everything’s going to be great!
  • Want some luxury and partying? Well, a road trip around Flores might not be for you. Instead, go to Bali or the Gilis where you can have a mix of “beach party” life and some nature!
