The PADI Rescue Diver course might be challenging, but it is also the one most often described as rewarding. Some even say that it is the best course they have ever taken! With this course, you will learn to prevent and manage problems while scuba diving.
All these skills will help you become a more confident scuba diver, knowing that you will know what to do if problems arise.
The PADI Rescue Diver includes knowledge development and rescue practices which cover the following subjects:
- Self rescue
- Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
- Emergency management and equipment
- Rescuing panicked divers
- Rescuing unresponsive divers
During the course you will familiarize yourself with equipment such as oxygen unit, floats and marker buoys.
You need to have completed the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course (or the equivalent) as well as Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months. You can also choose to take the EFR course together with your Rescue Diver course.
Junior Adventure Divers aged 12 or more who have completed the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive may also sign up for the course.
The course normally takes 3 days to complete, not including self-study.
